I tried to get out of this assignment. I didn’t think I would enjoy spending a long weekend with disabled kids. After shooting the first day, I spent the rest of the weekend volunteering more time there. It was so great to see these kids having the chance to be normal kids for a while.
Action
My boss took all of the traditional sports assignments for herself, leaving me with action shots at rodeos, re-enactments, and golf.
Flood in Luis Lopez
I was new at the Defensor Chieftain when we had the most amazing front page for a semi-weekly paper in a small (but fascinating and big-at-heart) town. It featured a flood, a train wreck and an earthquake in the same edition.
