I have worked as a journalist and more recently have been turning back to the fiction writing that I enjoyed all my life. Every job I have had throughout my career has involved significant writing, sometimes for clients and sometimes for internal documentation.
I spent a decade as a reporter/photographer for several newspapers, including the Socorro Defensor Chieftain, the Hudson Hub Times, the Ashland Times-Gazette, and as a stringer for the Akron Beacon Journal. Being a reporter is one of the greatest jobs one can ever have – as long as you’re not in it for the money.
Songs of a Befuddled Muse

Most recently, I have been rediscovering how much I love writing fiction and have published a book of short stories entitled Songs of a Befuddled Muse.
Songs is available on Amazon as a paperback, for Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and as an Audiobook on Audible read beautifully by English actress Liz May Brice.

Reporting
In my decade as a newspaper reporter and photographer, I had the pleasure of covering numerous beats in different cities. At all my papers, I covered politics, investigative work, and features. My beats included city politics, county government, law enforcement, criminal and civil courts, schools, science, and much more. My favorite work was doing frequent personality profiles, interviewing and photographing the most interesting people I could find.
While working for the Defensor Cheiftain, I won five awards from the 1983 New Mexico Press Association including first-place award for Interpretive Reporting, Sports Photography and Feature Photography.
Below are two stories to give a feel for my writing style. I can provide more samples on request.
