I have loved photography since my father gave me a camera when I went off to college. When I entered journalism, I was completely hooked. I love people; I love their faces and capturing a spark of their personality.

The Curandera
Doña Juanita Sedillo was a curandera, an herbal healer, in Socorro, NM. I was shooting while a co-worker interviewed her in Spanish, but nothing looked right until she sat down near a door opened just a slit and a sliver of light defined her face beautifully.
Juan Gonzalez
Gonzalez ran a barber shop that catered to Socorro’s politicos. The article was titled “Barber Likes to Talk and Run.”

Jim Romero
Romero was the Socorro probation officer. He took his job very seriously, trying to balance the needs of his clients against the needs of the county.

Judith Raymond
Raymond was a psychologist and a friend who made quite a splash in Socorro. I think this may be one of my favorite portraits I have shot, capturing her perfectly.
